Campus Housing

Official GNSI conference housing is offered in Constitution and Congressional Hall Residence Halls conveniently located in close vicinity to most of the core conference events. [link to campus map - coming soon] All rooms feature hotel-style rooms with a private bath.

Residence hall front desk is open 24/7. Please note that housing check-in and conference check-in are in separate locations.

Housing check-in starts Saturday (7/14) at 4pm. Final check-out time is Noon on Sunday (7/21). Pre-registration for housing is required. There is a two consecutive night minimum required. Price is per person.

  • Single room with private bathroom: $105/night
  • Double room with private bathroom: $95/night

Housing Check In: Upon arrival, check-in with the Desk Attendant to receive your Summer Guest Card / keycard. You must present a valid photo ID for housing registration!

Getting around campus is relatively effortless. All on-campus activities, meeting spaces, dormitories, workshops, dining facilities and shuttle stops are within 5 minutes of each other. Level ground and well-marked pedestrian crosswalks and thoroughfares make it very easy to get to any and all areas of campus.

SHUTTLE BUS (Events & Field Trips) location
For Monday night’s Opening Exhibit at AAAS and Wednesday’s full day at NMNH, GNSI will provide transportation to and from events according to the schedule; please refer to your registration packet to confirm times for bus departures and returns. Passenger pick-up and drop-off are ONLY ALLOWED IN THE BUS LANES behind Letts and Anderson Halls, from the loop off Rockwood Parkway. Please allow 10 mins to walk to bus from Residence Halls or Dining rooms.

EVENT charter buses for the Monday evening (AAAS reception) and Wednesday am/pm (SI Natural History Museum) will load/unload along New Mexico Avenue, near Constitution Hall.

FIELD TRIPS: Thursday, Friday and Saturday Field Trips will load/unload in the active bus lanes behind Letts Hall.

Hotels / AirBNB / Off-site Camping Options

AU Conference Services has partnerships with the Embassy Row Hotel and the Courtyard Marriott in Chevy Chase. Special rates for guests coming to AU are available.

Courtyard by Marriott Chevy Chase (see image below) 1.9 miles from campus: Type in U5V under Promotional Code when booking to receive discount.

AirBNB is an affordable option if you must stay off-campus as there are few hotels in the immediate vicinity. Embassy Suites and Courtyard by Marriott are nearest in Chevy Chase at Friendship Heights on Wisconsin Avenue (~2 miles). Days Inn at 4400 Connecticut Ave. NW and Georgetown Suites are within similar distances from the AU campus. Hotel rates vary widely during summer so book early and look for deals through popular booking sites. Parking and transportation costs should be factored in if staying off-campus. No campsites exist in Washington, DC. The nearest campground is Marsden Tract about 14 miles outside of Washington, D.C. There is no secured overnight parking near the trail and campgrounds are a distance away from the trail access points, as well so this is not recommended. See
